Monument Victim 40,000 Soul

YEAR 1946-1947 is a sheet of black for the people of South Sulawesi. As many as 40,000 people were slaughtered in an operation to rebel by Dutch special forces led by Westerling. 40,000 Victim Soul Monument stands as a reminder that event.

Victims Monument saw 40,000 souls, there is a feeling of bumps. Relief (relief) on the monument was reminded of how people, who only heard the news that Indonesia has been independent, collected in open ground. Then diberondong with automatic rifles. Their bodies were buried in a hole.

This monument stands in the beautiful and neat. Not many vehicles passing by. Occupied land on the corner with an area of approximately 250 square meters. Consists of several buildings, the hall and the monument with reliefs on the walls. This is where one of the actions performed Westerling troops.

On one side of the building, there is a statue with a height of about four meters. Survivors describe a leg stump but with one arm and use a buffer.

Government of Makassar and South Sulawesi Provincial Government always commemorate the massacre that every December 11. The veterans and their families were invited to the ceremony. Not a few families who cry victim recalled that 55 years ago. In the city of Pare Pare also established a similar monument.

This monument is located on Jl Langgau, Sub-District, District. It is located about four kilometers north of Makassar city center (Field Karebosi).

Access to Location
These objects can be easily reached by public transport, taxi, or hotel delivery facilities. With public transport, visitors can ride from the transport of Field Karebosi or Central Market Tallo majors. Down in a meeting between Pongtiku-Jl Jl Langgau. Then walk 200 meters to the location of objects.
